Background
He joined Sumitomo Chemical in April 1985 and became an Executive Officer 30 years later, in April 2015. He became Managing Executive Officer in April 2018, Representative Director and Managing Executive Officer in June 2020, Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2021, and President in June 2025. He took the top job after five years as Representative Director, unlike his predecessor Keiichi Iwata, who rose to President ten months after becoming Representative Director.
