Background

He joined Nishimoto Sangyo (now Canon Medtech Supply) in April 1964. After 28 years there, he founded Ship Corporation in August 1992 and became its Representative Director and President, and in November that year founded Green Hospital Supply and became its Representative Director and President. The latter is today's Ship Healthcare Holdings.

Selection

As the founder, he had no predecessor. He became Representative Director and President at the founding in November 1992 and served as President for 22 years until moving to Representative Director, Chairman and CEO in June 2014. In the FY ended March 2015, his final year, consolidated net sales were ¥273.3 billion and operating income ¥13.6 billion. His successor was Hirotaka Ogawa.

Initiatives

In 1997 he started the SPD business, outsourcing in-hospital logistics, shifting the core away from medical consulting and photographic film sales. In November 2006 the company made Central Uni a subsidiary, bringing in the design and construction of hospital facilities. In October 2009 it moved to a holding company structure and changed its name to Ship Healthcare Holdings. Non-consolidated net sales were ¥62.2 billion in the FY ended March 2006. They reached ¥162.4 billion in the FY ended March 2011, and after the switch to consolidated reporting grew from ¥188.8 billion in the FY ended March 2012 to ¥273.3 billion in the FY ended March 2015.
