Background
He joined Matsumotokiyoshi in June 1995, became a Director in June 2005, Managing Director in April 2008 and Senior Managing Director in April 2009. From April 2011 he served as Representative Director and President of the operating company Matsumotokiyoshi. Since June 2009 he has also been Representative Director of Nankai Kosan. At the end of March 2008, the top shareholders included Namio Matsumoto with 11.03% and Tetsuo Matsumoto with 10.48%, so the founding family held more than 20%.
Selection
In April 2014 he succeeded Namio Matsumoto as Representative Director and President. He had been promoted to Representative Director and Executive Vice President in April 2013, reaching the presidency a year later. Namio Matsumoto moved to Representative Director and Chairman at the same time, and Kiyoo also served as Representative Director and Chairman of the operating company Matsumotokiyoshi. In the fiscal year ended March 2014, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥495.4 billion and operating income ¥22.4 billion.
Initiatives
In October 2021 the company completed a business integration with Cocokara Fine and changed its name to MatsukiyoCocokara & Co. Consolidated net sales rose from ¥544.7 billion in the FY ended March 2021 to ¥951.2 billion in the FY ended March 2023, and passed the ¥1 trillion mark at ¥1,022.5 billion in the FY ended March 2024. Operating income grew from ¥31.6 billion to ¥75.7 billion over the same period. In the FY ended March 2026, consolidated net sales were ¥1,117.4 billion and operating income ¥84.9 billion.
