Background
He joined Nikko Securities in April 1967 and became Executive Vice President in March 2000. He served as President of Nikko Asset Management from June 2001 and Chairman of Nikko Cordial Securities from June 2005. After 45 years in the securities business, he joined Bic Camera as an adviser in April 2012 and became a director that November.

In September 2020 he succeeded Hiroyuki Miyajima as Representative Director, President and President Executive Officer. He had served as Representative Director and Chairman of subsidiary Kojima from February 2013 and as its Representative Director, Chairman, President and Representative Executive Officer from September of that year, so an outsider who had run a subsidiary became president of the parent. In the FY ended August 2020, before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥847.9 billion and operating income ¥12.1 billion, down from ¥894.0 billion and ¥22.9 billion the previous year.

His presidency lasted two years from September 2020. Consolidated net sales were ¥834.1 billion and operating income ¥18.2 billion in the FY ended August 2021, and ¥792.4 billion and ¥17.9 billion in the FY ended August 2022. In September 2022 he handed the presidency to Toru Akiho.
