Background
He joined Bic Camera in March 1997 and became Executive Officer and head of the second merchandise department in September 2012. He took charge of online sales as Managing Executive Officer and head of the EC business division from February 2017 and Director, Managing Executive Officer and head of EC from November 2018, moving to Director, Senior Managing Executive Officer and head of merchandising in September 2020. A career employee who worked in both purchasing and e-commerce, he spent 25 years at the company before becoming president.

Sales and profit then rose two years running, with net sales of ¥922.6 billion and operating income of ¥24.4 billion in the FY ended August 2024 and net sales of ¥974.5 billion, operating income of ¥30.3 billion and net income of ¥17.5 billion in the FY ended August 2025. Net sales were 23% above the ¥792.4 billion of the year before he took office.
