Background
He joined Toyo Suisan in April 1988 and held posts including deputy general manager at the U.S. subsidiary Maruchan Inc. He advanced to Director in June 2011 and Managing Director in June 2014, and in June 2023 went through Senior Managing Director to become Representative Director and President. In the same month he became president, he also became Chairman of the Board of Maruchan Inc. It took 12 years from joining the board to the presidency.

In June 2023 he succeeded Masaya Imamura as president, promoted from Managing Director via Senior Managing Director. In the fiscal year ended March 2023, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥435.8 billion and operating income ¥40.3 billion, with net sales up ¥74.3 billion from ¥361.5 billion and ¥29.7 billion the previous year. The appointment appears to have put at the top someone with on-the-ground experience in the North American instant noodle business.
Initiatives
Consolidated net sales topped the previous year in all three years of his tenure: ¥489.0 billion in the FY ended March 2024, ¥507.6 billion in the FY ended March 2025 and ¥536.6 billion in the FY ended March 2026. Operating income grew to ¥66.7 billion, ¥75.5 billion and ¥85.8 billion, more than doubling in three years from ¥40.3 billion in the year before he took office. Net income also rose over the same three years to ¥55.7 billion, ¥62.9 billion and ¥70.2 billion.
