Background
He joined Toyo Suisan in April 1981 and, after posts including head of the instant noodle division, became a director in June 2011. He advanced to Managing Director in June 2012 and Senior Managing Director in June 2013, and was named president in his 33rd year with the company, three years after joining the board. He was a career employee from the instant noodle side, which handles the flagship products; the top ten shareholders in the FY ended March 2011 were overseas institutional investors, trust banks, banks and a non-life insurer, with no individuals.

In June 2014 he succeeded Kazuo Obata as Representative Director and President. In the fiscal year ended March 2014, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥372.2 billion, operating income ¥30.6 billion and net income ¥22.7 billion, all above the previous year's ¥344.5 billion, ¥29.6 billion and ¥17.3 billion. He was named three years after joining the board and one year after becoming senior managing director, and the change appears to have moved up the head of the core business at a time of growing results.

During his tenure consolidated operating income grew from ¥25.1 billion in the FY ended March 2015 to ¥40.3 billion in the FY ended March 2023, and net income from ¥16.9 billion to ¥33.1 billion. In the FY ended March 2021 net sales fell to ¥340.8 billion, while operating income of ¥36.5 billion and net income of ¥29.1 billion topped the previous year in profit. In the FY ended March 2023, his final year, net sales of ¥435.8 billion, operating income of ¥40.3 billion and net income of ¥33.1 billion were all the highest of his nine years.
