Background

He founded Toyo Shoji Co., Ltd. in June 1988 and became its Representative Director and President. At its founding the company sold both steelmaking raw materials and gaming machines, and in 2001 it changed its name to FIELDS and focused on selling gaming machines. As founder he has strong backing from share ownership. Among major shareholders in the FY ended March 2026, he himself is the largest with 24.50% and Takeshi Yamamoto second with 11.61%, the two together exceeding 36%.

Selection

He was the first president, serving from the founding until June 2007, when he became Representative Director and Chairman. He returned to the presidency in May 2018. Just before, the FY ended March 2017 showed an operating loss of ¥5.4 billion and a net loss of ¥12.5 billion, and the FY ended March 2018 an operating loss of ¥5.7 billion and a net loss of ¥7.7 billion, two straight years in the red. It was an appointment bringing the founder back to turn around consecutive losses.

Initiatives

In 2003 he listed the company's shares on JASDAQ, and through sales agreements with SANKYO and Kyoraku extended its customer base nationwide. After his return, the company moved to a holding company structure in October 2022 and changed its name to Tsuburaya Fields Holdings. In 2024 it made Sophia a subsidiary, bringing the gaming machine maker Ace Denken under its umbrella. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥38.8 billion in the FY ended March 2021 to ¥174.1 billion in the FY ended March 2026, with operating income reaching ¥17.5 billion.
