He joined Nippon Kangyo Kakumaru Securities in April 1988 and moved to Deutsche Securities in May 1999. He joined FIELDS in April 2007 as Executive Officer in the president's office and two months later, that June, became Representative Director and President. His résumé lists no sales or development work on gaming machines; he was brought in as president after 19 years at securities firms. His holding in the FY ended March 2015 was 450,000 shares, an order of magnitude below the 8,675,000 shares of Hidetoshi Yamamoto, Representative Director and Chairman, listed in the same officer table.

Education: Rikkyo University, Faculty of Science (1988)

Selection

In June 2007 Hidetoshi Yamamoto, president since the company's founding in June 1988, moved to Representative Director and Chairman, and Oya, two months after joining, took over the presidency. Yamamoto remained chairman as the largest shareholder with 25.00% in the FY ended March 2011. In the same officer table, Kiyoharu Akiyama, who joined in July 1989, took 16 years to become Managing Director, whereas Tetsuya Shigematsu, who joined in January 2007 via Fuji Bank and Fuji Securities, became Senior Managing Director that June. The company repeatedly hired people from securities firms and banks into the president's office as executive officers and raised them to management in short order.

Initiatives

In April 2010 the company made Tsuburaya Productions and Digital Frontier subsidiaries through share acquisitions, and in November 2011 launched the comic magazine "Monthly Heroes." In February 2012 it signed a shareholders' agreement with Universal Entertainment, and in January 2014 made Nanasho an affiliate by subscribing to a third-party allotment of new shares. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥103.5 billion in the FY ended March 2011 to ¥114.9 billion in the FY ended March 2014, then fell to ¥99.5 billion in the FY ended March 2015, while ordinary income dropped from ¥13.6 billion to ¥5.4 billion over the same five years.
