Background

He joined Teijin in April 1989 and moved to the Pal Group in May 1995 as a director. He became Senior Managing Director, head of administration and head of the business reform promotion office in March 2007, and president in May 2008. Among major shareholders in the FY ended February 2006, he held 9.68% as an individual, alongside the largest shareholder Scotch Yofukuten with 31.73%, Hidetaka Inoue with 4.93% and Hideyo Inoue with 4.14%.

Selection

In May 2008 he succeeded founder Hidetaka Inoue as president. He was promoted from Senior Managing Director, 13 years after joining in 1995. His predecessor moved to Representative Director and Chairman and remained an officer of group companies. In the fiscal year ended February 2008, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales kept growing to ¥61.4 billion, while operating income fell for the second straight year to ¥4.1 billion.

Initiatives

Consolidated net sales more than tripled from ¥66.5 billion in the FY ended February 2009, the year after he took office, to ¥207.8 billion in the FY ended February 2025, his final year. In September 2016 the company set up the operating company Pal Co., Ltd. and moved to a holding company structure. In the FY ended February 2021 net sales fell to ¥108.5 billion and operating income to ¥1.4 billion, but from the FY ended February 2023 operating income recovered to ¥15.8 billion, ¥18.6 billion and ¥23.7 billion.
