Background

He joined Fukudaya Yofukuten in November 1985. He advanced to director of POINT Inc. in May 2001 and Representative Director in March 2010, taking 24 years from joining to reach representative director. His path contrasts with that of Michio Fukuda, who became a director the moment he joined. Endo's name was not among the top ten shareholders in the FY ended February 2011, when the largest was Tec Company with 9.19% and Michio Fukuda ranked fifth with 4.99%.

Selection

In September 2013 he became Representative Director and President as POINT Inc. moved to the holding company Adastria Holdings. His predecessor Michio Fukuda became Representative Director and Chairman that month. In the fiscal year ended February 2013, the year before he took office, net sales of ¥121.7 billion topped the previous year's ¥115.1 billion, while operating income fell from ¥12.4 billion to ¥9.7 billion. With rising sales and falling profit side by side, the appointment appears to have assigned him the role of handling the practical work of integration.

Initiatives

During his tenure he pushed the shift to a holding company structure and integration under the Adastria brand. In the FY ended February 2014, the first year of integration, net sales rose to ¥153.3 billion from ¥121.7 billion the previous year, while operating income halved from ¥9.7 billion to ¥5.8 billion and the company swung to a net loss of ¥4.7 billion. In the FY ended February 2015 net sales were ¥184.6 billion, operating income ¥6.0 billion and net income ¥0.5 billion. In May 2015 Michio Fukuda became Representative Director, Chairman and CEO, and Endo left the company that August.
