Background

He joined Tokyo Sagawa Kyubin in April 1979 and spent eight and a half years there. In December 1987 he became a director of Kanto Sokuhai, and three months later, in March 1988, its Representative Director and President. In March 2004 he also became Representative Executive Officer. As founder he has strong backing from share ownership: in the FY ended December 2025 the largest shareholder was Kamata Kikaku with 49.57%, followed by The Master Trust Bank of Japan at 7.36% and Custody Bank of Japan at 4.18%.

Education: Miyazaki Prefectural Nobeoka High School

Selection

He is the first president, with no predecessor. After eight years at Tokyo Sagawa Kyubin, he joined Kanto Sokuhai as a director in December 1987 and became Representative Director and President three months later. It was not a change bringing someone in from outside but an appointment that came with the founding. From taking office in March 1988 through 2026 he has held the presidency for 38 years without interruption. Results can be traced in annual securities reports only from the FY ended December 2001, so the company's size when he took office cannot be shown in figures.

Initiatives

In 2003 he sold the mail delivery business to focus on third-party logistics (3PL), and in 2004 and 2005 established a pattern of taking over large companies' non-core logistics subsidiaries one after another, including Snow Brand Logistics and Tokyu Logistic. From 2018 he brought in logistics subsidiaries from the Ricoh, Toshiba and Furukawa groups, reshaping the core of logistics revenue. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥89.3 billion in the FY ended December 2005 to ¥490.3 billion in the FY ended December 2025.
