Background

He joined Recruit in April 1985, moved to Reed Exhibitions Japan in January 1993 and International Thomson Publishing Japan in January 1995. In April 1996 he joined JAC Japan as Osaka branch manager, becoming Director and Osaka branch manager in June 1998 and Director and Executive Vice President in January 2001. The Osaka branch had been opened in November 1993, and he was brought in to head it. He held only 12 thousand shares, ranking seventh among major shareholders with 1.81% in the fiscal year ended December 2006.

He became Representative Director and President in November 2003. JAC Japan was established in March 1988 to provide recruitment services, and Hiromi Tazaki, involved since its founding, became Representative Director in January 2000 and Chairman in March 2005. Major shareholders in the fiscal year ended December 2006 were Tadayoshi Tazaki with 38.61%, Hiromi Tazaki with 18.01% and Shingo Kaneoya with 15.36%, the top three alone holding over 71%. The founding family, holding most of the shares, entrusted the presidency to an employee who had joined mid-career and reached Executive Vice President in seven years.

Initiatives

The company expanded its domestic network, opening a Nagoya branch in June 2004, a Fukuoka branch in September 2006 and a Kobe branch in October 2006. It concluded business alliances with firms in Thailand in November 2004, Indonesia in May 2005 and China in August 2005, and obtained additional overseas placement licenses for its fee-charging recruitment business. In July 2006 it launched a business English proficiency guarantee service through outsourcing to Shane Language Services. In September 2006 it listed its shares on the JASDAQ Securities Exchange. Net sales in the fiscal year ended December 2006 were ¥7.2 billion and operating profit ¥1.2 billion.
