Background

He joined Tokyo Gas in April 1988 and became Executive Officer and head of the Multimedia Services Department at NTT Mobile Communications Network (now NTT DOCOMO) in June 2005. He moved to DWANGO as a director in December 2008, and also served as an outside director of GREE from September 2009 and of U-NEXT from December 2010. He became a director of KADOKAWA at the business integration in October 2014, and from February 2019 also served as Representative Director and President of DWANGO.

In June 2021 he succeeded Masaki Matsubara as Representative Director and President. He had been a director of KADOKAWA since the integration in October 2014 and President of DWANGO since February 2019. In the year before his appointment, the fiscal year ended March 2021, consolidated revenue was ¥209.9 billion and operating profit ¥13.6 billion, recovering from ¥8.1 billion the previous year. Following Nobuo Kawakami, he was the second President to come from the DWANGO side that joined through the integration.

Consolidated revenue grew from ¥209.9 billion in the year before his appointment to ¥282.9 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2026. Operating profit peaked at ¥25.9 billion in the FY ended March 2023, then fell to ¥18.5 billion in the FY ended March 2024, ¥16.7 billion in the FY ended March 2025 and ¥8.1 billion in the FY ended March 2026, when net income was only ¥1.3 billion. In June 2023 he moved to Director, Representative Executive Officer, President and Chief Executive Officer. In the FY ended March 2026, Sony Group was the largest shareholder with 11.01%.
