Background

He joined Starts Corporation in April 1986 and became Executive Officer in charge of the Kanagawa block of the Sinks Business Division in May 2003. He became General Manager of the Personnel Department in April 2006 and Director in charge of personnel in June that year, and in April 2015, as Senior Managing Director, took charge of the International Business Division. Moving from overseeing frontline sales to personnel, he spent nearly nine years as the director in charge of personnel before taking on international business.

He became Representative Director and President in April 2016, a year after becoming Senior Managing Director and ten years after joining the board. In the fiscal year ended March 2016, the year before he took office, consolidated revenue was ¥160.2 billion and operating income ¥17.9 billion, the second straight year of revenue growth from ¥151.0 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2014. The handover put the executive who had overseen personnel and international business in the top job.

Initiatives

He served eight years, from April 2016 to July 2024, during which consolidated revenue rose from ¥180.8 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2017 to ¥233.4 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2024 and operating income from ¥20.2 billion to ¥30.5 billion. Among subsidiaries, he had also been Representative Director and President of Starts Facility Service since April 2013, and in April 2023 also became Representative Director and President of Starts Care Service. In July 2024 he handed the presidency to Toyotaka Muraishi and became Representative Director and Vice Chairman.
