Background
He joined Mitsubishi Corporation in April 1986 and built his career in chemicals. In April 2010 he was seconded to Mitsubishi Corporation Plastics as an Executive Officer; in April 2013 he became General Manager of Mitsubishi Corporation's Synthetic Resins and PVC departments, and in April 2016 he took charge of business investment in the Chemicals Group. In April 2017 he moved to Chuo Kagaku as Managing Executive Officer and became its Representative Director and President in April 2018. He joined Sangetsu in December 2022 as Executive Officer in charge of the President's Office. He was born in December 1963.
Selection
Within a year and a half of joining in December 2022 he rose to the board, and in April 2024 he became Representative Director, President and Executive Officer, one year and four months after joining. By contrast, Fumio Takagi, listed in the same roster of officers, joined Sangetsu in April 1997, became an Executive Officer in July 2023 and a Director in June 2024, a 26-year climb from within. For Sangetsu, this was a change of president to someone brought in from outside. In the fiscal year ended March 2026 the major shareholders included three individuals: Yoshio Hibi with 2.90%, Tozo Hibi with 2.82% and Mayumi Hibi with 1.97%.
Initiatives
In July 2024, after he took office, the company acquired shares of D'Perception Pte Ltd in Singapore and made it a consolidated subsidiary. This followed earlier overseas acquisitions of KOROSEAL INTERIOR PRODUCTS HOLDINGS, INC. in the United States in November 2016 and Goodrich Global Holdings Pte. Ltd. in Singapore in December 2017. From July 2024 to March 2025 he also served as General Manager of the business division alongside his role as President. Consolidated net sales went from ¥189.9 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2024, just before he took office, to ¥206.4 billion in the FY ended March 2026, and net income from ¥14.3 billion to ¥14.6 billion.
