Background
He joined Mitsubishi Trust and Banking in April 1982, became an Executive Officer in June 2009 and Senior Managing Director in June 2013. From June 2015 he was Director, Managing Corporate Executive and Group CFO of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, and from June 2018 Senior Managing Corporate Executive and Group CFO as well as Director, Senior Managing Executive Officer and CFO of MUFG Bank, spending 38 years on the finance side of banking. In April 2020 he moved to Nikon as a Senior Executive Vice President and became a Director in June that year.

In April 2024 he succeeded Toshikazu Umatate as Representative Director, President and COO. His predecessor moved to Representative Director and Chairman the same month, and the President's title was COO rather than CEO.
