Background
He joined Joyo Bank in April 1980. He climbed three executive ranks in six years—Executive Officer in June 2011, Managing Director in June 2013, Senior Managing Director in June 2017—and became Representative Director and President in June 2018. He had joined the board of Mebuki Financial Group when the holding company was formed through the integration in October 2016, and in June 2018, when he became bank president, also became President of the holding company.
Selection
In June 2018 he succeeded Kazuyoshi Terakado as President. At the same time he became Representative Director and President of Joyo Bank, with one person heading both the bank and the holding company. This was the same arrangement as the first president, Masanao Matsushita, who had served as both President of Ashikaga Bank and President of the holding company. In the fiscal year ended March 2018, the year before, consolidated ordinary income was ¥262.4 billion and ordinary profit ¥63.5 billion, both above the previous year.

In his four years in office, consolidated results peaked in his first year, the fiscal year ended March 2019, with ordinary income of ¥288.1 billion, ordinary profit of ¥69.5 billion and net income of ¥46.3 billion. Net income fell to ¥36.4 billion in FY ended March 2020 and ¥36.5 billion in FY ended March 2021, and recovered to ¥43.0 billion in FY ended March 2022, his final year. He served four years while remaining President of Joyo Bank, and handed the presidency to Tetsuya Akino in June 2022.
