Background
He joined Boston Consulting Group in April 1998 and moved to Ripplewood Japan in December 2001. Without ever working at an insurer, he became Executive Vice President of Lifenet Insurance in October 2006. He became Representative Director and Executive Vice President in February 2009 and Representative Director and Executive Vice President and Executive Officer in July 2011, spending six years and eight months as Executive Vice President before becoming President. His career centered on management consulting and investment.

The bottom line, however, was in the red all five years, with net losses of ¥2.2 billion in FY ended March 2014 (the largest), ¥1.6 billion in FY ended March 2015, ¥0.4 billion in FY ended March 2016, ¥1.9 billion in FY ended March 2017 and ¥0.2 billion in FY ended March 2018, his final year. He stepped down as President in June 2018 without having reached profitability.
