Background
He joined HORIBA in March 1985. He became an Executive Officer in June 2006, Managing Executive Officer in April 2010, Director in March 2014 and Senior Managing Director in March 2016. It took him 29 years from joining to reach the board, and only two more to become President. At the time he took the top job he had served as a director for less than four years.
Selection
In January 2018 he succeeded Atsushi Horiba as Representative Director and President. Horiba moved to Representative Director, Chairman and Group CEO, so the change handed over only the presidency. His predecessor had been President for 26 years from January 1992, and Horiba is also a shareholder, listed among the top ten major shareholders with 1.91% for the fiscal year ended December 2014.

Consolidated net sales, ¥171.9 billion in the fiscal year ended December 2015 before he took office, reached ¥333.1 billion in FY ended December 2025. Operating income rose from ¥20.1 billion to ¥53.0 billion over the same period. Net income was ¥37.1 billion, 2.8 times the ¥13.3 billion of FY ended December 2015.
