Background

He joined Yokohama Rubber in April 1962 and moved to DISCO in March 1983 as general manager of the sales planning department. He became a Director in April 1984, Managing Director in June 1989, Senior Managing Director and head of the PS Division in July 1993, and Representative Director, Executive Vice President and President of the PS Company in July 1998. Selection

In June 2001, Mizoroki became Representative Director and President. DISCO had listed its shares on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in December 1999. In the fiscal year ended March 2002, right after he took office, the company was in the red, with consolidated net sales of ¥30.3 billion, an ordinary loss of ¥2.3 billion and a net loss of ¥2.2 billion. Since 1996 the company had been discussing its values with advice from an outside research institute, and in 1997 it compiled a code of conduct on cards distributed to employees.

Initiatives

In July 2002, the guidelines refined through these discussions were expanded to 203 items across 11 themes, including overall management, creating, money and selling. In August that year the company developed and began selling a laser saw for precision cutting, and in November 2003 it introduced a fully automatic grinder/polisher. In November 2004, it relocated its headquarters and R&D center to a new building in Omorikita, Ota Ward, Tokyo. In the fiscal year ended March 2009, hit by the global financial crisis, consolidated net sales fell to ¥53.1 billion, but the company stayed in the black with operating income of ¥0.1 billion and net income of ¥0.2 billion.
