He joined Daido Steel in April 1973. He became a Director and general manager of corporate planning in June 2004, a Managing Director in June 2006 and Representative Director and Executive Vice President in June 2009, taking 31 years from joining to reach the board. The largest shareholder was Nippon Steel, with 10.19% in FY ended March 2011, followed by financial institutions and business partners: Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance at 4.77%, Honda Motor at 3.10% and Toyota Motor at 2.00%.

In June 2010 he succeeded Masatoshi Ozawa as Representative Director and President. In FY ended March 2010, before he took office, net sales were ¥362.5 billion, with an operating loss of ¥14.0 billion and a net loss of ¥14.6 billion, a two-year slide from net sales of ¥591.4 billion and operating profit of ¥38.4 billion in FY ended March 2008. The handover came a year after he became Representative Director and Executive Vice President.

Consolidated operating profit rose from ¥15.4 billion in FY ended March 2013 to ¥24.4 billion in FY ended March 2016, his final year. Consolidated net sales went from ¥440.4 billion to ¥460.6 billion over the same period. In June 2016 he stepped back to Representative Director and Chairman after about six years as President.
