Background
He joined Daido Steel in April 1980. He became a Director and general manager of corporate planning in June 2009, a Managing Director in June 2012 and Representative Director and Executive Vice President in June 2014, taking 29 years from joining to reach the board. Like his predecessor Tadashi Shimao, he joined the board as general manager of corporate planning.

In June 2016 he succeeded Tadashi Shimao as Representative Director and President. His sequence of promotions, Director and general manager of corporate planning, Managing Director, then Representative Director and Executive Vice President, matched his predecessor's, making him the second consecutive president from corporate planning. In FY ended March 2016, before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥460.6 billion and operating profit ¥24.4 billion, but net income had fallen from ¥10.9 billion the year before to ¥6.7 billion.

In June 2023 he stepped back to Representative Director and Chairman after about seven years as President.
