Background
He joined Kobayashi Pharmaceutical in December 1987 and in December 2012 served as head of Western and China Strategy in the International Business Division. He became Executive Officer and head of the International Business Division in March 2023 and Executive Officer and head of the International Business Headquarters in January 2025, having long handled overseas business. He has no shareholding base, and his name is not among the top ten major shareholders for the fiscal year ended December 2025. That year the largest shareholder was his predecessor, Akihiro Kobayashi, with 12.46%, followed by the Kobayashi Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation, with 8.07%.

In his first year, the fiscal year ended December 2025, consolidated revenue was flat at ¥165.7 billion, while operating income fell from ¥24.9 billion to ¥14.9 billion and net income from ¥10.1 billion to ¥3.7 billion. In the shareholder structure, three Oasis-affiliated funds held a combined 10.5% at the end of that year, taking three of the top ten spots. One year after he took office, the results of his policies have yet to show up in the numbers.
