He joined Kobayashi Pharmaceutical in March 1998 and became an Executive Officer three years later, in June 2001. He became a Director in June 2004, Managing Director in June 2007 and Senior Managing Director in March 2009, and became President 15 years after joining. Among major shareholders in the fiscal year ended December 2025 he is the largest with 12.46%, which together with the 8.07% held by the Kobayashi Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation, exceeds 20%.

In June 2013 he became Representative Director and President, succeeding Yutaka Kobayashi. The promotion came four years after he became Senior Managing Director and 15 years after he joined. In the fiscal year before he took office, ended March 2013, consolidated revenue was ¥121.5 billion, down nearly ¥10 billion from ¥131.2 billion the year before. Net income was ¥12.2 billion, above the previous year's ¥11.7 billion, so the change came amid declining revenue.

In 2016 the company changed its fiscal year-end from March to December, so the period after the fiscal year ended March 2016 was the nine-month FY ended December 2016. After the change, revenue grew from ¥114.0 billion in FY ended December 2016 to ¥173.5 billion in FY ended December 2023, and operating income from ¥17.4 billion to ¥25.8 billion. In FY ended December 2024 net income halved from ¥20.3 billion the year before to ¥10.1 billion. In August of that year he moved to Director and Executive Officer (in charge of compensation).
