Background
He joined NCR Japan in June 1980 and moved to Digital Equipment Corporation Japan in June 1988. He joined Oracle Japan in October 1998, becoming Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in August 2002 and Director and Executive Vice President in June 2005. After serving as Representative Director and President of YDC from April 2009, he joined Future Architect in October 2010 as Executive Officer and head of the Advanced Business Sales Division.

In July 2015 Yasufumi Kanemaru, who founded Future Architect in November 1989, stepped back to Representative Director and Chairman, and Higashi became Representative Director and President. The appointment came four years and nine months after he joined in October 2010 and four years and four months after he became Director and Executive Vice President in March 2011. Kunihito Ishibashi, who had been with the company since its founding and became a Director in July 1996 and Director and Executive Vice President in October 2003, remained Executive Vice President. In the fiscal year ended December 2015, Kanemaru held 7,123,000 shares and Ishibashi 618,000, against Higashi's 3,000.

In the fiscal year ended December 2015, which spanned his tenure, consolidated revenue was ¥35.3 billion, operating income ¥4.9 billion and net income ¥2.7 billion, all above the previous year's ¥34.4 billion, ¥4.3 billion and ¥2.2 billion. In April 2016 Yasufumi Kanemaru became Representative Director, Chairman, President and Group CEO, and Higashi stepped down as President. His presidency lasted about nine months from July 2015.
