Background
He joined Toyo Information Systems in April 1985 and in April 2010 became Managing Executive Officer and head of the Planning and Administration Headquarters at Sorun Corporation. Sorun had become a wholly owned subsidiary in April 2010 and was absorbed by TIS Inc. in April 2011. With the merger he became Executive Officer and General Manager of Planning in TIS's Planning Headquarters, and from January 2012 also served as Managing Director of TISI (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.
Selection
In April 2021 he succeeded Toru Kuwano as Representative Director and President. Kuwano had been Representative Director, Chairman and President since June 2018, and with the change he gave up the presidency and became Chairman of the Board. Yasushi Okamoto had become a Director in June 2018 and Executive Vice President in April 2020, so he was promoted three years after joining the board. In the FY ended March 2021, the year before he took office, net sales were ¥448.4 billion and operating income ¥45.7 billion.
Initiatives
In February 2021 the group renewed its CI logo and brand message, adopting "Fulfill the wishes of society through IT." In March 2023 it sold all shares of the US company Sequent Software Inc. outside the group, and in April that year made Nihon ICS Co. a wholly owned subsidiary. In May 2024 it drew up the long-term management policy Group Vision 2032. In the FY ended March 2025, consolidated net sales were ¥571.7 billion and operating income ¥69.0 billion.
