Background
He joined Asahi Kasei in 1978, and at Asahi Kasei Electronics, which handles electronic components, became Director and Managing Executive Officer in April 2008 and Representative Director and President in April 2010. He returned to the parent as Managing Executive Officer of Asahi Kasei in April 2012, joined the board in June that year and became Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2014. Over the 38 years from joining to the presidency, his career centered on the electronic components business run by the subsidiary.

Over his six years, consolidated net sales grew from ¥1,940.9 billion (FY ended March 2016) to ¥2,461.3 billion (FY ended March 2022), and operating income from ¥165.2 billion to ¥202.6 billion. The workforce increased by 13,930, from 32,821 to 46,751. Net income fell to ¥79.7 billion in the FY ended March 2021, but in the following FY ended March 2022 both sales and operating income reached the highest levels of his tenure.
