Background
He opened Uno Kaitendo Pharmacy as a sole proprietor in February 1973, and in September 1982 established Kaitendo Pharmacy Ltd., serving as Representative Director and President. In December 1983 he established Cosmos Pharmaceutical as a limited company and became its Representative Director and President at the same time. In April 1991 it was converted into a stock company. Among major shareholders in the FY ended May 2010, he himself held 25.1%, and together with four other shareholders named Uno the family held 52.1%. In the FY ended May 2015, Hidefuji Ltd. was the largest shareholder with 32.74%, and his own stake was 2.99%.

He was the first president of Cosmos Pharmaceutical, becoming Representative Director and President at its founding in December 1983. The incorporation came ten years after he opened the business as a sole proprietor and a year and three months after establishing Kaitendo Pharmacy Ltd. He served as President for 34 years from the founding until stepping back to Representative Director and Chairman in August 2017.
Initiatives
Consolidated net sales grew twelvefold from ¥42.4 billion in the FY ended May 2003 to ¥502.7 billion in the FY ended May 2017, his final year. Consolidated operating income rose from ¥2.3 billion in the FY ended May 2005 to ¥22.2 billion, and net income from ¥1.2 billion to ¥18.2 billion. Over his 34 years he grew the limited company founded in December 1983 into a nationwide chain with sales in the ¥500 billion range.
