Background

He joined Tokyu Land Corporation in April 1968. He became a Director in June 1998 and Senior Managing Director in April 2002, and became Representative Director and President in April 2008, 40 years after joining. He is not from a founding family with capital behind him. In the FY ended March 2016, the top shareholders were corporations, with Tokyu Corporation at 15.12%, Japan Trustee Services Bank at 5.60% and The Master Trust Bank of Japan at 4.88%, and no individuals in the top ten.

Selection

In April 2008 he became Representative Director and President of Tokyu Land Corporation. In the FY ended March 2008, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥633.4 billion and ordinary income ¥75.4 billion, but in the FY ended March 2009, his first year, sales fell to ¥574.3 billion and ordinary income to ¥27.7 billion. In October 2013 he also became Representative Director and President of Tokyu Fudosan Holdings, launched as a holding company, becoming the group's first leader.

In the five periods from his appointment to the FY ended March 2013, consolidated net sales stayed flat at ¥552.0 billion to ¥595.8 billion. In October 2013 the three companies Tokyu Land Corporation, Tokyu Community and Tokyu Livable were delisted simultaneously and moved under the holding company Tokyu Fudosan Holdings. After the integration, consolidated net sales were ¥714.0 billion and operating income ¥61.4 billion in the FY ended March 2014, and ¥773.1 billion and ¥63.3 billion in the FY ended March 2015, his final year.
