Background
He joined Mitsubishi Corporation in April 1999 and moved to Hagoromo Foods in April 2007. After serving as deputy general manager of the second production department and of corporate planning, he became Director and general manager of corporate planning in June 2012 and Director and Executive Vice President in July 2013, also heading the business division from April 2014. He is the son-in-law of Representative Director and Chairman Yasuo Goto, and Managing Director Saeko Goto is the chairman's eldest daughter.
Selection
In April 2015 he succeeded Yasuhiro Mizoguchi as president. The promotion came just under three years after he joined the board and eight years after he joined Hagoromo Foods. The change followed the previous president's term, in which the company posted a consolidated operating loss of ¥1.7 billion and a net loss of ¥2.6 billion in the FY ended March 2013.
Initiatives
During his tenure consolidated net sales were ¥79.9 billion and operating income ¥1.6 billion in the FY ended March 2019. The company stayed in the black after the operating loss of ¥1.7 billion in the FY ended March 2013, but the operating margin remained at 2%. He stepped down as president in October 2019, handing over to Saeko Goto, eldest daughter of Representative Director and Chairman Yasuo Goto.
