Background

She joined Ajinomoto in April 1997, moved to McKinsey & Company in September 2002, and joined Hagoromo Foods in April 2004. She advanced to Director and assistant head of production that June and Managing Director and head of services in June 2012. The annual securities report for the FY ended March 2015 notes that she is the eldest daughter of Representative Director and Chairman Yasuo Goto. Her personal holding does not appear among the top shareholders; in the FY ended March 2026 the largest shareholder is the Hagoromo Foundation for the Promotion of Education and Research, a public interest incorporated foundation, with 46.67%.

In October 2019 she succeeded Kenichi Ikeda as Representative Director and President. Her predecessor was noted in the annual securities report for the FY ended March 2015 as the son-in-law of Chairman Yasuo Goto. In the FY ended March 2019, just before she took office, consolidated net sales were ¥79.9 billion and net income ¥1.0 billion, down from ¥1.7 billion the previous year. She had become head of corporate planning four months before taking office, and was promoted after handling the services division and corporate planning. The presidency has passed among the founding family and its relatives.

Initiatives

In the FY ended March 2021, after she took office, consolidated net sales fell from ¥82.9 billion the previous year to ¥67.3 billion, while operating income rose from ¥3.1 billion to ¥3.4 billion. In the FY ended March 2023 net sales were ¥70.5 billion, with an operating loss of ¥1.1 billion and a net loss of ¥1.3 billion. Operating income recovered to ¥1.8 billion in the FY ended March 2024, and in the FY ended March 2025 reached ¥2.8 billion with net income of ¥2.5 billion, above the ¥1.0 billion of the FY ended March 2019 before she took office.
