Background
He became Executive Officer and head of EDION's Chugoku-Shikoku sales department in February 2014. He went on to head Kinki sales from April 2015, overall sales from February 2018 and overall merchandising from October 2020, widening his remit from regional sales to company-wide sales and merchandising. He advanced to Director and Managing Executive Officer in June 2021 and Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in June 2023, also heading the sales division.

In June 2024 he succeeded Nobutaka Kubo as Representative Director, President, Executive Officer and COO. Kubo moved to Representative Director, Chairman, Executive Officer and CEO, creating an officer structure that separates CEO and COO. In the fiscal year ended March 2024, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥721.1 billion and operating income ¥16.9 billion, with operating income down from ¥19.2 billion the previous year. He was promoted ten years after becoming an executive officer.
Initiatives
Both years after he took office brought higher sales and profit: consolidated net sales of ¥768.1 billion and operating income of ¥23.4 billion in the FY ended March 2025, and ¥793.7 billion and ¥25.8 billion in the FY ended March 2026. The operating margin rose from 2.3% in the year before he took office to 3.3%. In the FY ended March 2026 the largest shareholder is Nitori Holdings with 9.67%, and the EDION Group employee stock ownership association ranks third with 6.86%.
