Background
He joined ASKUL in January 2001. He advanced to Executive Officer in charge of medical and care in August 2011, Executive Officer and COO of the BtoC company in July 2012, and Director and COO of the BtoC company that August, leading in turn two businesses, one serving medical and nursing care and one serving consumers. It took him 18 years from joining to the presidency; rather than being brought in as an officer from another company, he rose to the board by leading business units.

In August 2019 he succeeded Shoichiro Iwata as Representative Director, President and CEO. For seven years from August 2012 he had run consumer mail order as Director and COO of the BtoC company. In the major-shareholder snapshot available in the annual securities reports, in the FY ended March 2011, the largest shareholder PLUS held 26.80% and 3.45%, and Iwata personally 2.88%. It was a capital structure in which corporate shareholders' stakes outweighed that of the predecessor personally.
Initiatives
In February 2023 the company added Feed, a mail-order supplier to dentists, as a consolidated subsidiary, and in June 2024 opened the ASKUL Kanto DC in Ageo, Saitama Prefecture. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥422.2 billion in the FY ended May 2021 to ¥481.1 billion in the FY ended May 2025. The FY ended May 2024 saw operating income of ¥17.0 billion and net income of ¥19.1 billion, and the FY ended May 2025 operating income of ¥14.0 billion and net income of ¥9.1 billion.
