Background
He began working at Murakami Chikusan in April 1975. In June 1981 he founded M&M Foods and became its Representative Director, and in December 1982 founded Murachiku, serving as its Representative Director and President for 22 years. Until moving to S Foods as Representative Director and Executive Vice President in September 2004, he was a founder-manager leading meat companies he had started himself.
Selection
In September 2004 he stepped down as Representative Director and President of Murachiku, which he had founded in 1982, and that same month moved to S Foods as Representative Director and Executive Vice President. A year and a half later, in March 2006, he became Representative Director and President. In the FY ended February 2006, just before he took office, the largest shareholder was Murakami personally at 24.76%, followed by Five M Co., Ltd. at 15.07% and Marubeni at 15.00%, so he was himself the largest shareholder when he became president.
Initiatives
Consolidated net sales grew fivefold from ¥92.7 billion in the FY ended February 2006, just before he became president, to ¥472.3 billion in the FY ended February 2026, and ordinary income rose from ¥2.4 billion to ¥11.7 billion. In 2015 the company acquired the U.S. meatpacker AURORA PACKING COMPANY, giving it two processing sites in the United States. Ordinary income fell to ¥6.4 billion in the FY ended February 2025 but returned to ¥11.7 billion the following year.
