Background

He joined Snow Brand Milk Products in April 1985. In October 2008 he moved to Nippon Milk Community, rising from deputy general manager of the corporate planning department to Sendai branch manager in October 2009. After the April 2011 integration brought him to Megmilk Snow Brand, he worked on the sales front lines as manager of the West Tokyo Metropolitan branch and general manager of the Chubu regional branches, became head of the secretariat in April 2017, and head of the dairy foods division in April 2019. He was named Managing Executive Officer in June 2020 and rose to president with experience running the flagship dairy foods division.

Education: Meiji University, Faculty of Law (1985)

Selection

In April 2022 he succeeded Keiji Nishio as President, Executive Officer and CEO, adding the post of Representative Director and President that June. In the fiscal year ended March 2022, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥558.4 billion and operating income ¥18.1 billion, both down from ¥615.2 billion and ¥19.8 billion the previous year. He was promoted from Managing Executive Officer, and his recent record leading the core dairy foods division appears to have been the reason for his selection.

Initiatives

During his tenure, consolidated net sales moved from ¥584.3 billion in the FY ended March 2023 to ¥615.8 billion in the FY ended March 2026, and operating income from ¥13.1 billion to ¥18.3 billion. Net income of ¥32.9 billion in the FY ended March 2026 was 2.7 times the ¥12.1 billion of the FY ended March 2022, the year before he took office. The major shareholders include the raw-milk supply side: the National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations (Zen-Noh) at 15.20%, Norinchukin Bank at 7.44%, and Hokuren Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives at 1.76%, so a structure in which suppliers and capital overlap continues.
