Background
He joined Nippon Flour Mills (NIPPN) in April 1983, served as Fukuoka plant manager from June 2011 and general manager of production and engineering from June 2013. He became an Executive Officer in June 2014, Director and Executive Officer in June 2015 and Director and Managing Executive Officer in June 2017, long serving concurrently as head of the production and engineering division. He came from the production side, having worked in plants and production engineering.
Selection
In June 2020 he succeeded Masayuki Kondo as President. That April he had been promoted to Director, Senior Managing Executive Officer, head of production and engineering and chair of the product development committee, and he became President two months later. In the fiscal year ended March 2020, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥344.8 billion and operating profit ¥11.1 billion, with sales up from ¥335.4 billion (and operating profit ¥11.2 billion) the previous year. The change was not prompted by poor results; the officer responsible for production and product development was simply promoted.
Initiatives
In his first fiscal year, ended March 2021, consolidated net sales fell to ¥288.3 billion, but operating profit held at ¥10.4 billion. In 2021 the company changed its name from Nippon Flour Mills to NIPPN. From 2024 it decided on a plan to sell cross-shareholdings and idle real estate and redirect up to ¥140.0 billion to capital investment over three years. Consolidated net sales grew to ¥418.4 billion and operating profit to ¥22.1 billion in FY ended March 2026, exceeding the year before he took office by 21% and 99% respectively.
