Background
He became Managing Director of Kyushu Electric Power in June 2001 and served six years until stepping down in June 2007. He had never worked at Kyudenko and left Kyushu Electric the same month he became President. Kyudenko was established in December 1944 through the merger of 13 major electrical contractors in Kyushu under the electrical contracting consolidation guidelines, and since concluding a distribution work contract with Kyushu Haiden (now Kyushu Electric Power) in June 1947 it has centered on power utility work. Kyushu Electric was Kyudenko's largest shareholder, holding 26.85% in the fiscal year ended March 2006. Hashida himself held 97 thousand shares of Kyudenko.
Selection
In June 2007 he succeeded Hiroyuki Kawabe as President. Kawabe was a career employee who joined Kyudenko in April 1963 and became President in June 2002 after serving as Kumamoto branch manager, deputy head of sales and head of the Tokyo division; he became Representative Director and Chairman when Hashida took office. In the fiscal year ended March 2007, the year before he took office, the company posted a net loss of ¥2.6 billion on consolidated net sales of ¥251.8 billion, swinging into the red from net income of ¥1.7 billion the previous year. The change brought in a leader from the largest shareholder, Kyushu Electric.
Initiatives
In June 2008, the year after he took office, the company discontinued its trucking business, and in July 2008 it set up a Tokyo head office. In June 2011 he personally also took charge of the Tokyo head office. In January 2012 Kyuko Lease was removed from the scope of consolidation and the leasing business was discontinued. In FY ended March 2008 the company returned to profit with consolidated net sales of ¥236.2 billion, ordinary profit of ¥8.2 billion and net income of ¥3.4 billion, and in his final year, FY ended March 2013, consolidated net sales were ¥239.3 billion, ordinary profit ¥5.7 billion and net income ¥2.9 billion.
