He joined Daiwa House Industry in June 1990. He became an Executive Officer 20 years later, in April 2010, joined the board the following June as Director and Senior Executive Officer, and became Director and Managing Executive Officer in April 2013 and Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2016. It took seven years from Executive Officer to President, and 27 years from joining.

In November 2017 he succeeded Naotake Ono as President, promoted from Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer. In the fiscal year ended March 2017, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥3,512.9 billion, operating profit ¥310.1 billion and net income ¥201.7 billion, all above the previous year's ¥3,192.9 billion, ¥243.1 billion and ¥103.5 billion. His title on taking office was Chief Operating Officer (COO), while Chairman Takeo Higuchi kept the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO); Yoshii added the CEO title one year and seven months later, in June 2019.

Over his eight fiscal years in office, consolidated net sales grew from ¥3,512.9 billion in FY ended March 2017 to ¥5,434.8 billion in FY ended March 2025, and operating profit from ¥310.1 billion to ¥546.3 billion. In FY ended March 2021 net sales fell by ¥253.5 billion from the previous year to ¥4,126.7 billion, but recovered to ¥4,439.5 billion the following year, FY ended March 2022.
