He joined Sumitomo Forestry in April 1978 and rose to Executive Officer in June 2007 and Director and Managing Executive Officer in June 2008. He is a career employee who spent all 32 years from joining to becoming President at Sumitomo Forestry. Among major shareholders at the end of his first fiscal year, ended March 2011, Sumitomo companies lined up: Sumitomo Metal Mining led with 5.7%, followed by Sumitomo Corporation (2.47%), Sumitomo Life Insurance (2.38%) and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (2.33%), with the Sumitomo Forestry Group employee stockholding association ninth at 2.11%.

During his tenure, consolidated net sales grew from ¥797.5 billion in FY ended March 2011 to ¥1,308.9 billion in FY ended March 2019, and operating profit from ¥14.2 billion to ¥49.2 billion. In FY ended March 2017 the company posted operating profit of ¥54.0 billion and net income of ¥34.5 billion.
