He joined Kajima Corporation in April 1974. He became an Executive Officer in June 2005, Managing Executive Officer in April 2008 and Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2010. After five years as Senior Managing Executive Officer, he became President in June 2015, 41 years after joining. He spent 31 years before reaching officer rank, an appointment built on long experience in the field.

In June 2015 he succeeded Mitsuyoshi Nakamura as President. In the fiscal year ended March 2015, the year before he took office, operating profit was ¥12.7 billion on consolidated net sales of ¥1,693.6 billion, an operating margin of only 0.8%. Profitability had also been low in FY ended March 2014, with net sales of ¥1,521.1 billion and operating profit of ¥23.0 billion, and the company had long been unable to earn profits commensurate with its scale.

Consolidated operating profit grew twelvefold from ¥12.7 billion in FY ended March 2015 to ¥158.4 billion in FY ended March 2018, and stayed between ¥127.3 billion and ¥142.6 billion over the following three years. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥1,693.6 billion to ¥1,907.1 billion in FY ended March 2021. After becoming Representative Director and Chairman in June 2021, he returned to the presidency in January 2026 as Representative Director, Chairman and President.
