Background

A member of the founding Kajima family, he became Representative Director and President in February 1984. His was a generation backed by shareholdings: in the shareholder register for the fiscal year ended March 2010, 20 years after he stepped down as President, he still held 2.99% as an individual, ranking third after two trust banks. In the same snapshot, the Kajima employee stockholding association ranked fourth with 2.38%.

Selection

His predecessor was Rokuro Ishikawa. He became President in February 1984. In his first fiscal year, ended November 1984, non-consolidated net sales were ¥932.1 billion and ordinary profit ¥27.7 billion, down in both from ¥942.6 billion and ¥38.6 billion in FY ended November 1983.

Initiatives

The fiscal year-end changed during his tenure: the year ended November 1984 was the last November year-end, and from the year ended March 1985 the company closed its books in March. In June 1990 he stepped back to Representative Director and Chairman, succeeded by Akira Miyazaki. No subsequent President came from the Kajima family, making him the last President from the founding family.
