Background
At NTT East he served as Managing Director from June 2002 and Representative Director and Executive Vice President from June 2004. In June 2006 he moved to the operating company Nippon COMSYS as Representative Director and Executive Vice President, becoming its President the following June. He became President of the holding company COMSYS Holdings a year later, in June 2008. The COMSYS group's core business is telecom facility construction for the NTT group, so the Executive Vice President of the ordering side moved to the top of the contractor.
Selection
In June 2007 he succeeded Hirofumi Shimada as President of Nippon COMSYS. He took over the holding company presidency a year later, in June 2008, so the leadership changes at the operating company and the holding company were a year apart. In the fiscal year ended March 2007, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥336.5 billion, operating profit ¥19.2 billion and net income ¥12.3 billion, all above the previous year's ¥307.4 billion, ¥16.3 billion and ¥10.0 billion. The holding company had been established through a share transfer in 2003, and the change came as that structure had taken root.
Initiatives
In 2012 the company made Tsuken a wholly owned subsidiary through a share exchange, and in 2013 consolidated five affiliates in Hokkaido into one entity. Consolidated net sales fell from ¥336.5 billion in FY ended March 2007 to ¥293.0 billion in FY ended March 2010, then hovered in the ¥300 billion range. Operating profit bottomed at ¥11.8 billion in FY ended March 2011 and recovered to ¥23.8 billion in his final year, FY ended March 2016. Sales were roughly flat over nine years, but the operating margin rose from 5.7% to 7.4%.
