Background
He joined Mitsubishi Logistics in April 1987. He rose to Executive Officer and head of the International Transportation Division in June 2021, Managing Executive Officer in April 2022 and Director and Managing Executive Officer in June that year. He became President two years after taking charge of the international transportation business, 36 years after joining.
Selection
In April 2023 he succeeded Masao Fujikura as President, ten months after joining the board. In the year before his appointment, the fiscal year ended March 2023, consolidated revenue was ¥300.5 billion and operating profit ¥23.0 billion, with revenue up 40% in two years from ¥213.7 billion and ¥11.7 billion in the FY ended March 2021.
Initiatives
In 2023 the company acquired the US and UK-based Cavalier Logistics group. This appears to have been a decision to switch from an overseas expansion model of opening its own sites to follow Japanese shippers to one of bringing in local logistics companies. Consolidated revenue fell to ¥254.5 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2024, then recovered to ¥284.0 billion in the FY ended March 2025, with net income of ¥31.8 billion exceeding the ¥27.2 billion of the year before his appointment.
