Selection

In April 2023 he succeeded Akira Kiyota as Representative Executive Officer and Group CEO. In April 2022 the Tokyo Stock Exchange had restructured its markets into three segments, Prime, Standard and Growth, and Yamaji had carried out that work as TSE President. In the fiscal year ended March 2023, the year before he took office, operating revenue was ¥133.9 billion and operating profit ¥68.3 billion, with operating profit having fallen for two straight years from ¥74.6 billion in the FY ended March 2021. The appointment appears to have placed the person who executed the market restructuring directly at the top of the group.

Initiatives

In the fiscal year ended March 2024, his first year, operating revenue was ¥157.8 billion, operating profit ¥87.4 billion and net income ¥60.8 billion, a step up from ¥133.9 billion, ¥68.3 billion and ¥46.3 billion the year before. Operating revenue was ¥164.1 billion and operating profit ¥90.1 billion in the FY ended March 2025, and in the FY ended March 2026 operating revenue was ¥199.1 billion, operating profit ¥116.3 billion and net income ¥79.1 billion, three straight years of growth.
