Background
He joined Bank of Fukuoka in April 1976, became Director and General Manager of Corporate Planning in June 2003 and Director and Deputy President in April 2010. He also became a Director of Fukuoka Financial Group in April 2007, and in April 2011 a non-executive director of Shinwa Bank. In April 2012 he became Director and Executive Vice President of the holding company, accumulating experience in a position overseeing all three banks under it.
Selection
In June 2014 he succeeded Masaaki Tani as Director and President of Fukuoka Financial Group, at the same time serving as Director and President of Bank of Fukuoka. From April 2019 he was Chairman of both the holding company and Bank of Fukuoka, and in April 2022 he left the presidency to become Chairman. In the fiscal year ended March 2014, before he took office, consolidated ordinary income was ¥242.2 billion and net income ¥36.1 billion.
Initiatives
In February 2016 the group reached a basic agreement on a business integration with The Eighteenth Bank, making it a wholly owned subsidiary through a share exchange in April 2019. In October 2020 Shinwa Bank and The Eighteenth Bank merged to form The Juhachi-Shinwa Bank. The preparatory company for Minna Bank, set up in August 2019, changed its name to Minna Bank in December 2020 and began customer services in May 2021. Consolidated ordinary income rose from ¥242.2 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2014 to ¥280.4 billion in the FY ended March 2022, and net income from ¥36.1 billion to ¥54.1 billion.
