Background
He joined Yamaha in April 1992. He became an Executive Officer in April 2021 and in April 2022 a Corporate Executive Officer and head of the Musical Instruments Business Unit, leading the instruments business. It took him 32 years from joining to become President, and three years from becoming an Executive Officer. He became a Director only in June 2024, after becoming President, moving straight from head of a business unit to the top.

In April 2024 he succeeded Takuya Nakata as Representative Executive Officer and President, with his predecessor moving to Chairman of the Board in the same month. In the fiscal year ended March 2024, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥462.8 billion, while operating income had fallen from ¥46.5 billion the previous year to ¥29.0 billion. He was appointed three years after becoming an Executive Officer, without having served as a Director.

Operating income fell to ¥20.7 billion in the FY ended March 2025 and recovered to ¥29.3 billion in the FY ended March 2026. Net income rose over the same two years from ¥13.3 billion to ¥23.7 billion.
