Background
He joined Yamaha in April 1981. He became an Executive Officer in June 2006 and a Director in June 2009, and from April 2010 served as President of the U.S. subsidiary Yamaha Corporation of America. It took him 32 years from joining to become President, and he reached the top of the head office after responsibility for an overseas market.

In June 2013 he succeeded Mitsuru Umemura as Representative Director and President. In the fiscal year ended March 2013, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥366.9 billion and operating income ¥9.2 billion, and in the preceding FY ended March 2012 the company had posted a net loss of ¥29.3 billion. His post just before taking office was President of Yamaha Corporation of America, and he was appointed four years after becoming a Director.

Consolidated net sales grew from ¥366.9 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2013, the year before he took office, to ¥462.8 billion in the FY ended March 2024, his last year. Operating income went from ¥9.2 billion to ¥29.0 billion over the same period, peaking during his tenure at ¥52.8 billion in the FY ended March 2019. In the FY ended March 2021 net sales fell to ¥372.6 billion and operating income to ¥35.0 billion, but by the FY ended March 2023 they had recovered to ¥451.4 billion and ¥46.5 billion. In June 2017 his title changed from Representative Director and President to Representative Executive Officer and President.
