Background

He joined Roland in April 1996, became head of planning for the RPG Company in January 2016, Executive Officer and President of the RPG Company in September 2017 and Executive Officer in charge of RPG development in January 2018. In March 2022, 26 years after joining, he became Director and CIO, joining senior management. In the fiscal year ended December 2025 he held 6,000 shares plus 12,000 shares scheduled for delivery, and among the major shareholders in the same year his predecessor-but-one Junichi Miki ranked ninth with 1.25%.

Selection

He became Representative Director, COO and CIO in March 2024, and in July of that year replaced his predecessor Gordon Raison as Representative Director, President, CEO and CIO. In January 2025 he gave up the CIO role, and his title became Representative Director, President and CEO. He took 26 years from joining in 1996 to become a Director and two years from Director to President and CEO; by comparison Yasunobu Suzuki, who joined in 1988 and sits on the same board, took 35 years to become a Director, so Minowa joined senior management nine years faster.

Initiatives

After he took office the company continued to consolidate its overseas sales subsidiaries, liquidating the sales companies in Hungary in July 2024 and in Denmark and Germany in September and transferring their operations to the UK regional management company, and liquidating the Russian sales company in November 2025. In January 2025 the U.S. drum company DW, made a subsidiary in October 2022, absorbed its holding company Roland Drum Corporation as the surviving company. Consolidated net sales rose from ¥99.4 billion in the fiscal year ended December 2024 to ¥101.0 billion in the FY ended December 2025, while net income fell from ¥6.0 billion to ¥2.2 billion.
