Background
He joined United Arrows in April 1998. He served as General Manager of UA Sales in the UA Division from October 2005 and as Deputy Head of the BY Division and General Manager of Business Strategy from April 2008. He became head of the BY Division in the First Business Management Division in April 2012, an Executive Officer in July that year and a Senior Executive Officer in April 2014. He led the First Business Division as Director and Managing Executive Officer from June 2018 and as Director and Executive Vice President from November 2020. In a shareholder structure in which founder Osamu Shigematsu held 8.34%, he was chosen from among career employees with no capital of their own.

In April 2021 he succeeded Mitsuhiro Takeda as Representative Director, President, Executive Officer and CEO. In the fiscal year ended March 2021, the year before he took office, net sales were ¥121.7 billion, with an operating loss of ¥6.6 billion and a net loss of ¥7.2 billion, a swing into the red from net sales of ¥157.4 billion and operating income of ¥8.8 billion the year before. Matsuzaki had risen to Director and Executive Vice President in November 2020, and the change moved up the head of the core business in the middle of a loss-making year.
Initiatives
In the fiscal year ended March 2022, his first year, net sales were ¥118.4 billion, but the company returned to the black with operating income of ¥1.7 billion. Results recovered to net sales of ¥130.1 billion and operating income of ¥6.4 billion in the FY ended March 2023, and reached ¥150.9 billion and ¥8.0 billion in the FY ended March 2025. In the FY ended March 2026, net sales were ¥164.6 billion and operating income ¥9.1 billion, surpassing the net sales of the FY ended March 2019 (¥158.9 billion in net sales and ¥11.1 billion in operating income), before the fall into the red.
